night lights (nasa commissioned art), 2012
well, today i completed my first artwork as part of my new job duties within nasa (see opening blog entry for background details regarding my new life as a full-time professional artist), and here it is: night lights. it depicts the aurora borealis and imminent orbital dawn as seen from the international space station (iss) as it passes over the bright lights of ireland and scotland. i drew it free-hand in powerpoint, using one of the many wonderful iss photo library images as a reference. i hope i did this wondrous extra-atmospheric view justice ...what are your thoughts on that subject? i'd love to hear them - drop me a quick comment or two if you'd like to share your critique... now, for some sleep...! :)
